Since 1929 the Geyer family has run the GAIA HOTEL. "Come as a guest, leave as a friend" is the hotel's motto. Friendship begins at reception. Guests are welcomed and bidden farewell as friends of the house. The memorable atmosphere is created from a careful balance of art and tradition.

Since 1929, the Geyer family has run the former Hotel St. Gotthard Basel, which is called GAIA HOTEL since 1. October 2015. GAIA means “mother earth” and personifies the entire ecosystem of Planet Earth. The hotel offers exclusively regional, organic and biodynamic products. This is our direct contribution for well-being, happiness and the hopeful future of generations to come.

The numerous galleries, vibrant theatre scene, and sheer variety of events held throughout the entire year also make Basel what it is today – a captivating city for connoisseurs of culture.

We offer a one night stay for two people in our comfortable Gorgeous Twin with a bottle of apple champagne, as well as an abundant organic breakfast buffet, service and VAT. Additionally, our guests receive a mobility-ticket, which allows them to use all public transportation in and around Basel free of charge.

The Belle Époque style banquet room not only serves as a breakfast room, it reveals itself as a unique jewel for special receptions, company or family events and gatherings.

A popular meeting point for coffee, tea, or a glass of wine is
the lounge, which offers an elegant, warm and refined atmosphere.

Sunday Brunch

Our extensive brunch buffet tempts our guests every
Sunday from 11:00 am to 14:00 pm. The various delicacies are mostly regional, certified organic and partly certified biodynamic.

Meet & Learn

The rooms Bright & Cozy can be combined for seminars, training sessions and business occasions, providing space for up to 40 guests.

Both are well equipped and offer the ideal venue for small meetings, private conversations, or an undisturbed workspace.

The in the Belle Époque style developed banqueting room reveals itself as a unique jewel for workshops and events.

The GAIA HOTEL is located opposite the SBB main railway station. Discounted parking is available in the Centralbahnstrasse public car park with over 400 lots. The Basel Airport is about 15 min. and Zurich airport about 90 min. away.
