About the Lausanne Opera
The Lausanne Opera was founded in 1871 and is one of Switzerland’s top opera houses. With its rich history and constant innovation, the opera has been able to maintain and achieve international success. The opera continues to satisfy the public’s curiosity, attract established and launch emerging artists and evolve to meet the audience’s changing demand for lyrical performances thanks to its bold programming, emphasis on quality vocals and outstanding stage production.
Once known as a municipal theater, today the world-renowned opera house produces and co-produces its own productions. With an expansion and renovation in 2012, the Opera house offers a wide variety of operas, from baroque to contemporary, theater, concerts and ballets. With over 45'000 spectators a year, the audience continues to grow through new media channels and state-of-the-art technology.
