The Bernath painting business is a family business that is now being run by the third generation. Ernst Bernath Senior founded the company on Rosengasse in Schaffhausen in the 1920s. Ernst Bernath Junior took over the painting business in 1948 and ran it until 1989. Since then, Gilbert Bernath has continued the painting business as a sole proprietorship. The current owner qualified in 1986 and has been training apprentices in painting ever since.
