When the East meets the WestTraditional Chinese medicine today
Western conventional medicine often views illnesses as an isolated problem. This is precisely why TCM ideally complements Western knowledge as a holistic approach. It emphasizes the harmony of body and soul, the coexistence of yin and yang, the flow of energy (qi) and the five-element theory (metal, wood, water, fire and earth).
Many diseases are caused by an imbalance of yin yang, qi and/or body heat (heat/cold). TCM strives for balance with a range of natural therapies:
- Acupuncture
- Phytotherapy
- Tuina massage
- Cupping
- Moxibustion
- Ear acupuncture
TCM has been proven to help with complaints such as functional pain (headaches, back and joint pain), stomach and intestinal disorders, menstrual cramps, psychological disorders, depression, allergies and more. Find out more here.
Acupuncture - Precisely to the cause of suffering
Traditional Chinese medicine takes a holistic view of people. It takes into account the body and the soul. Acupuncture treatment aims to bring this unity into balance and strengthen the immune system
Acupuncture regulates the harmonious flow of vital energy (Qi) through the meridians by inserting needles at energy nodes. You can read more about this here.
Phytotherapy - in harmony with nature
1000 herbs, 3000 years of experience, thousands of formulas with an individual focus on each patient: Phytotherapy is certainly one of the broadest and best-researched approaches to predominantly herbal healing methods.
For this reason, phytotherapy is considered an essential component of traditional Chinese medicine. And of course, this form of therapy is also based on the principle of yin yang and the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire and earth) - once again, it is about restoring balance.
Tuina massage - getting healthy with gentle methods
Tuina massage is related to acupuncture. It helps "without needles" with complaints of the musculoskeletal system, in preparing for and helping with childbirth, with nervous disorders and also in sports and rehabilitation medicine. The energy nodes used in acupuncture are tapped, vibrated or shaken with the hands. These impulses strengthen blood circulation and the flow of energy, as the energy pathways, the meridians, are reactivated alongside the muscles, connective tissue and joints. Children like this therapy because it does not involve needles. You can read more about this here.
Cupping - heat as a path to well-being
Cupping, an alternative or supplement to acupuncture, promotes the flow of Qi, the flow of life force. The method used is very simple: the air in a cupping ball - a small round open glass - is briefly heated. Your doctor then places the heated cupping ball on certain points of the body. As the cupping ball cools down, a vacuum is created which "pulls" the skin slightly into the inside of the ball. Local congestion of the Qi - and this also applies to the blood flow - is thus released and the self-healing powers are strengthened. This ultimately leads to better resistance.
Moxibustion - healing fragranceTraditional Chinese medicine recommends moxibustion for patients with a cold or stagnant heat condition. A moxa stick made from medicinal herbs is lit. The stick is then attached to an acupuncture needle or held by hand near the meridian point. Special heat lamps are also used instead of moxa sticks. As a patient, you experience a pleasant feeling of warmth that gets under your skin. Either way, cold is dispelled and the warming of the meridians leads to an improved flow of blood and Qi. Moxibustion offers good chances of success in correcting the baby's breech positions in the womb.
Ohiacupuncture - the whole body listens
Even in the West, it is now known that our ears are closely interwoven with the whole body via the nerve tracts and the brain. The fact is that there are up to 200 acupuncture points on the outer auricle - and each needle inserted here triggers electrical impulses that reach the relevant area of the human body at lightning speed, for example the knee, hip or shoulder, liver, heart, kidneys and so on.
