Herzog Forsttechnik AG – Contacts & Location
Description
Forestry machinery since 1992
Klaus Herzog completed an apprenticeship as a businessman, followed by training as a forest warden and district forester and then as a construction machinery mechanic. After several years in the industry, he had acquired a wide range of knowledge and practical experience in forestry technology.
In 1992, with the support of his wife Irene and his father, he founded the company Herzog Forsttechnik in Zumholz.
Initially, the company's activities were limited to the import, sale and servicing of forestry machinery and, for the first four years, it also carried out forestry work itself. Thanks to the use of modern machines, further important experience was gained.
In 1993, Klaus Herzog met the manufacturer of the forwarder brand FORCAR at a trade fair and they decided to work together.
For 10 years, FORCAR forwarders were built with Spanish components in Zumholz and new design ideas flowed back to Spain.
From 1997, the Swiss FORCAR was then manufactured 100% in Zumholz.
The last generation of FORCAR was built by Herzog in 1999 with the Hangforwarder. The realization of a traction winch was a novelty and the technology was tested in practical use for a long time.
The last FORCAR Hangforwarder was delivered in 2008. This was followed by specialization in winch construction for other forestry machine manufacturers.
In 1994, the successful partnership with the Austrian company KONRAD FORSTTECHNIK began.
In 2001, Herzog Forsttechnik began producing its own cable cranes in the GRIZZLY series and distributes them in Switzerland and throughout Europe.
In cooperation with the company PONSSE and its German representative WAHLERS FORSTTECHNIK, Herzog upgrades forwarders and harvesters with traction winches to machines suitable for steep slopes.
Today, around 300 SYNCHROWINCH winches are in use worldwide on machines from various manufacturers.
The German branch was opened in 2011. This was followed by the founding of the company HERZOG & REINHARDT GmbH in Delbrück with Stefan Reinhardt.
At the beginning of 2019, Herzog Forsttechnik took over the Swiss representation of the German company HEIZOMAT for their chipper HEIZOHACK.
The successful partnerships and in-house production have allowed Herzog Forsttechnik to grow to a size of around 20 employees in Zumholz.
