Today, forests are primarily seen as places for recreation, health, and leisure activities. We are all aware of their protective effects on soil, water, air, and climate, as well as their importance as habitats for our forest animals.

However, the forest's role as a supplier of wood as a raw material tends to be overlooked by the public. The prerequisites for these important services provided by the forest—forest maintenance and management on the one hand, and timber harvesting and utilization on the other—are often not sufficiently recognized and acknowledged. After all, the sustainability of the management and use of the timber growing in our forests, its sale, and its utilization form the basis of forestry as we practice it today.

Wood consumption ensures the survival of our forests. This means that future generations will also find healthy, natural, and species-rich forests within the framework of sustainable development.
