The argovia philharmonic is the most important orchestra in the cultural canton of Aargau. With fresh concepts and innovative formats, it pursues its own unique goal of bringing classical music to the entire canton.

Founded in 1963 as the "Aargauer Symphonie Orchester," this Swiss orchestra has long since grown into a nationally established professional orchestra. Operating as the argovia philharmonic since the 2013/14 season, the orchestra not only shapes its own homeland musically with a broad repertoire in its own concert series, but also makes regular guest appearances at venues such as the Tonhalle Zurich and the KKL Lucerne.

The argovia philharmonic regularly performs with internationally renowned soloists such as Vadim Repin, Olga Scheps, Sol Gabetta, Lawrence Power, Julian Bliss, and Matthias Kirschnereit, as well as with leading Swiss artists such as Oliver Schnyder, Regula Mühlemann, Louis Schwizgebel, and Christian Poltéra. It also invites up-and-coming soloists such as Alina Ibragimowa, Andrew Tyson, Kian Soltani, Sebastian Bohren, and Chiara Enderle.

From 2001 to 2019, British conductor Douglas Bostock led the orchestra as principal conductor. Since the 2020/21 season, Norwegian Rune Bergmann has been principal conductor.
