Château d'Aigle has been enthroned in the heart of renowned vineyards since the late 12th century, situated between the Alps and Lake Geneva. The former residence of the knights of Aigle, the nobles of Compey-Thorens and the Bernese Governors opens its doors to visitors. The castle houses the prestigious Musée de la Vigne et du Vin (Vine and Wine Museum) and the Musée de l'Étiquette, featuring a collection of approximately 450,000 wine labels. Partially destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout history, it was restored in the 1970s specifically to house the museum. The castle complex includes a rectangular structure with circular walls and three corner towers, offering visitors access to explore many nooks and crannies, including sentries' wall walks and towers. The adjacent Maison de la Dîme, a 13th-century renovated barn, serves as exhibition rooms. The castle also provides four rooms for receptions, banquets and seminars.
