Welcome to Serge Oulevey's osteopathy practice for adults, children, athletes, young and old alike.
The practice welcomes patients by appointment. Easy to access, it is located near the Grande Eau river, north of the town of Aigle, next to the roundabout with a miniature castle, at Place du Centenaire 3, in the Espace Santé. The entrance is to the right of the Amiguet Martin stationery store. Walk along the outdoor gallery, follow the signs for Espace Santé, Médecin, Pédiatre, and take the elevator to the first floor. (Do not take the stairs.)
There are two parking lots near the office. The first is located right in front of the entrance, while blue and white parking spaces are available on the other side of the Grande Eau river (a 2-minute walk).
Osteopathy in a nutshell:
Osteopathy is movement therapy. All structures must be mobile in relation to each other. (Joints, muscles, tendons, organs, etc.)
What can be treated with osteopathy (a very broad field):
Principle in osteopathy:
To function normally, joints, muscles, and organs must be free. However, in our daily lives, we often experience blockages when moving, lifting a load, or overworking our bodies (through sports or work).
These situations are not serious (except in certain cases), but they are uncomfortable due to the pain caused when we move in our daily lives.
As an osteopath, I work to locate these blockages, diagnose the lack of mobility, and finally apply the appropriate techniques to restore mobility.
The technique chosen depends on what the patient's body needs. For example, if a joint is blocked, a cracking technique (known as a structural technique) is preferred.
With children, gentle techniques are used (cranial, visceral, postural).
Each patient has their own needs.
Frequently asked questions:
A joint that is not free moves less easily. When we move, we put pressure on the ligaments (and capsule) of that joint, which causes pain.
No. A structure can only lack freedom of movement as a result of an impact, a fall, excessive strain, or inflammation. Osteopaths do not reposition anything; they aim to restore optimal mobility to the structures.
They will check the mobility/internal tension of the organs and structures and restore mobility to anything that has been altered (tension, scar tissue, adhesions).
The principle of mobility is the same according to the theory developed around 1939 by Sutherland. In conventional medicine, the skull is considered to be fused and immobile. In osteopathy, careful palpation reveals a rhythmic movement that reflects the patient's "vitality." The osteopath can then correct any lack of mobility.
Often criticized but widely practiced, this treatment method produces undeniable results, particularly with babies and children.
