Schwyz Rescue Service AG
Company history
Rettungsdienst Schwyz AG has its origins in 1965. That was the year the Eichhorn ambulance service was founded. Until 1992, everything was run by Karl Eichhorn-Betschart Sr. until he died in 1992 at the age of 55. On January 1, 1993, Eichhorn Transportdienste AG was founded and entrusted with the rescue service. They continued to run the rescue service until the contract was terminated by the districts at the end of 2003.
Rettungsdienst Schwyz AG was formed on January 1, 2004, from a merger between Rettungsdienst Eichhorn and the Schwyz Hospital Association. Its aim is to provide emergency rescue services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in the districts of Schwyz (excluding Unteriberg, Oberiberg, and Alpthal) and Gersau. Rettungsdienst Schwyz AG is also always ready to provide assistance to neighboring communities.
Emergencies
Emergencies are covered by two teams during the day (11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) and by one team during the rest of the time. In the meantime, the second team can be called in at any time.
Secondary area / replacement organization
MediTrans GmbH is responsible for the secondary sector and as a replacement organization.
