Ecological decontamination treatment for biological maintenance of materials

Against mosses, greens, algae and lichens

ALGIMOUSS is a product for the biological destruction of mosses, greens, lichens and algae acting essentially on their spores.

Roofing

Use on slates, fiber cement, terracotta tiles, concrete tiles, shingle, thatch, polycarbonates and other plastics.

For optimum action, ALGIMOUSS should be allowed to dry before rainfall. However, once the product has set in the pores, its action will be reactivated with each rainfall. ALGIMOUSS will then begin the biological destruction of the parasitic plants to which it has been applied. This takes a few weeks to a few months, and manifests itself in a gradual change of color and/or appearance. These dead plants will then dry out and disintegrate. The weather - rain, wind, snow - will cause the roof to gradually clean itself.

Bathrooms, corridors, dressing rooms, laundry rooms or entrance halls are generally rooms with no openings to the outside, and therefore require artificial light. To diffuse natural light into these dark rooms of the house where window installation is not an option, there's an alternative to artificial lighting: the skylight.

The skylight involves conducting sunlight into a room via a tube. The light is captured by a dome or a pane of glass installed on the roof or façade. It then passes through a tube, usually made of aluminum. Diffusers can be either acrylic or polycarbonate. According to some manufacturers, acrylic lets 99% of light through, compared with 70% for polycarbonate.

The advantage of skylights is that the tubes are placed between the rafters and require no structural modification.

To light a 10m² room, the tube diameter should measure 25cm; 45cm for living-room or bedroom-type rooms. 

The example of the Sun Tunnel by Vélux

 

Velux has developed the "Sun Tunnel" skylight. It comes in two versions depending on the situation of the room to be lit (short or long distances from the roof).

The flexible conduit, made of reflective aluminum, is designed to reach rooms at short distances.

The rigid conduit, in highly reflective aliminium, on the other hand, is designed to reach the most distant rooms of up to 6 m (with extensions). It provides a high light output thanks to its highly reflective (mirror-coated) tube.

Both models can be equipped (as an option) with an electric auxiliary lighting system for night-time or days when natural light is scarce.

To preserve the clarity of the glazing, an innovation called "Clair et net" has been developed. "Thanks to its photocatalysis principle, plant debris and other organic dirt are disintegrated. With rain, the hydrophilic function allows water to glide over the glass, dispersing drops and washing away surface dirt. As it dries, the water evaporates without leaving any traces", explains Velux.

To provide optimum insulation and avoid any risk of condensation in the duct, the diffusing ceiling light is fitted with a translucent acrylic double wall. The material for the frame is polyurethane-coated wood.

Who is it for?

The Sun Tunnel can be installed in any type of single-family dwelling, new or renovation. It can be installed on all tiled roofs with a pitch of 15° to 60° and on all slate roofs with a pitch of 35° to 60°.

Aesthetically, from the outside, the Sun Tunnel looks like a roof window. With its flat shape, it blends in well with the roof. The Sun Tunnel's glass surface is positioned flush with the roofing materials for optimum respect of the roof's aesthetics.

Technical features

The Sun Tunnel consists of three parts:
On the roof:
- a polyurethane frame flush with the roof with integrated connection;
- 4 mm tempered glass (dimensions) with "clear & net" treatment

Under the roof, depending on the roof-ceiling distance and the amount of light required:
- a flexible reflective aluminum duct suitable for distances from 40 centimeters up to 2 meters.
- or a highly reflective rigid aluminum duct, suitable for distances from 0.4 to 1.8 meters (up to 6 meters with extensions).

The longer the fitting, the less light diffusion.

Inside the room:
- a diffusing white ceiling light fitted with translucent acrylic double glazing.

Optional:
- electric auxiliary lighting system for night-time use (light kit) to be installed behind the ceiling light. For 23 W low-voltage fluorescent screw-in bulb (not supplied).

- for flexible aluminum conduit reflector 2100 lumens;

- 6,500 lumens for highly reflective rigid conduit.
