Born in 1970, the Provident Mother Foundation takes in children and adults of both sexes, without age limits, with mental retardation, often accompanied by physical and/or mental handicap.

Offers a 360-degree care of the person, with the aim of promoting his or her psychophysical well-being and development and at the same time, in close collaboration with families, inclusion in the social fabric.

In addition to nursing care, therapies, and school education, the Foundation offers many activities aimed at pursuing the aforementioned goals.

Occupational activities such as gardening, cooking, carpentry, and do-it-yourself complement and make possible the sale of various products at the La Butega atelier.

In free time, space is made instead for music, cinema, approach to the horse Blueberry, walks and motor activities.

Thanks to its proximity to the center of Balerna, guests of the Provident Mother Foundation can also experience the life of the community that has welcomed them with open arms for some time now.

1. Inspiring principles

The Provid Mother Foundation acts in accordance with the Christian values on the basis of which it was founded on December 5, 1970, and in accordance with the civic values proper to the surrounding socio-political context, its purpose is the operation of facilities and services for minors and adults with disabilities.
The Foundation welcomes children and adults of both sexes, without age limits, with congenital disabilities that may be cognitive, physical and/or psychic. 

Objectives

• The mental and physical well-being of the person receiving care;

• The development and/or maintenance of residual abilities;
• The development of the person's autonomy;

• The development of a good image of the Institute towards the population outside the institution.
   

2. Benefits

The Foundation offers the person with disabilities comprehensive care.
The Institute's activities include:

• The reception and care of young children, in the preschool special school;
• The special school;
• The full-time or part-time boarding, and externship for minors and adults;
• The occupational and leisure activities;
• The provision of various therapies: physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychomotricity; water therapy or other individual therapies as needed;
• The provision of constant nursing care and assistance.

The Foundation is particularly sensitive and respectful of the expectations of the community.
It actively cooperates with agencies, services and voluntary organizations.
