From founder to 25-person team
Owner and Managing Director Andreas Mautz founded the company MABA Anstalt in Balzers in 2000 and, thanks to constantly growing demand, founded MABA Schweiz GmbH in 2010. Before founding his first business, he worked for 12 years as an employee in pollutant remediation and fulfilled a dream by founding his own company.
As a one-man operation at the time, the company now has 25 employees - over the years, it has also been able to handle larger and larger projects and the original business area of pollutant remediation has been expanded to include technical dismantling and fire protection installations.Asbestos / PCB
Remediation of asbestos and other pollutants
The remediation of asbestos deposits and materials containing asbestos is one of our core businesses and our main activity. The regulations and legal requirements of the SUVA and the EKAS guidelines are fully complied with at all times. We manage all projects from start to finish. The basic steps are:
- Analysis and screening of the property, including taking material samples for precise analysis for asbestos components
- Development of a remediation concept incl. cost calculation
- Organization of the construction site incl. any necessary external tradesmen (e.g. scaffolders, electricians, etc.) and permits
- If the contract is awarded to our company, the notification must be sent to SUVA 2 weeks before the start of work
- Proper remediation of asbestos deposits by our specialists, including the necessary indoor air measurements after completion of the remediation by an independent and SUVA-licensed measuring institute
- Proper disposal of the resulting waste (asbestos, masonry, etc.) in the appropriate and prescribed landfills
- Final discussion of the project and handover of any necessary documents for the authorities and construction documentation
Depending on the scope and size of the asbestos deposits, the necessary project preparations and remediation measures may differ from the above list.
The start of a remediation project always requires a thorough inspection of the property for possible pollutants. It is part of our service to carry out the necessary clarifications such as sampling and measurements of the actual condition and then to discuss the necessary remediation measures with the customer.
What is asbestos and when is it used? In some cases, asbestos can also pose health risks. Read more on the topic here:
PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls)
PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls) is a synthetically produced substance mixture of various chlorinated hydrocarbons. Remediation work on sealing joints, paints etc. containing PCBs must be carried out by a specialist company. Improper remediation often leads to a significantly higher level of PCB and other pollutants than before the remediation and endangers people, animals and the environment in the long term.
Use our experience and modern technical equipment so that your building can also be sustainably freed from PCBs.
Technical dismantling
Refurbishment and deconstruction of properties
Are you planning a conversion or would you like to relocate existing cables or have a partition wall installed? Removal of building fabric may be necessary for various reasons, e.g. if
- a pollutant clean-up is being carried out and a number of facilities and technical installations have to be dismantled for accessibility so that the pollutant clean-up can be carried out correctly and comprehensively
- the premises are no longer required / rented and parts of the production equipment and infrastructure such as electrical equipment, media lines, foundations, partition walls, etc. remain behind. These usually have to be dismantled before the halls are handed over to the landlord or the new owner in order to restore the premises to their original condition at the start of the lease. be it because a building is being renovated from the ground up or because demolition of the building is planned.
- Smoke and heat extraction systems (SHEVS)
- Optical and acoustic alarm systems, often as part of the fire alarm system
- Smoke aspiration systems, for example to support smoke detection in floor or ceiling cavities used for cable routing
- Locking systems for smoke protection doors in escape and rescue routes
- Escape door terminals for controlling and monitoring escape doors leading to the outside or to other fire compartments
- Escape and rescue route lighting as part of the safety lighting system (emergency lighting)
- Manually operated fire extinguishers (so-called hand-held fire extinguishers)
- etc.
Since existing building fabric is increasingly no longer simply demolished for refurbishment or demolition, but selectively dismantled and the reconstruction / disposal of the building fabric must be adapted to contemporary requirements, selective technically sophisticated dismantling is required.
We apply environmentally friendly and totally economical solutions that are tailored to your building. In particular, we naturally take into account environmental aspects such as separation, segregation and purity of the materials produced with regard to possible contamination with harmful substances and existing recycling or disposal options.
When carrying out demolition and dismantling work, suitable, property-specific combinations of processes must be selected, as no two dismantling projects are the same.
We would be happy to organize this final step in the value chain for you! Get in touch with us contact us, we look forward to hearing from you!
Fire protection
Prevent fires and protect yourself properly
In addition to our core business of pollutant remediation, we are also active in the field of structural fire protection and primarily deal with the installation of fire protection on building components. This can be cladding of steel beams, linings for electrical cabinets, spray insulation on concrete ceilings, etc. The applications are very diverse, which is why we are happy to advise and support you from the ground up. We don't just remove outdated fire protection - we also install modern fire protection that complies with current regulations.

Preventive fire protection
Preventive fire protection is the term for measures that prevent or limit the occurrence, spread and effects of fires in advance.
Constructional fire protection
The structural measures in buildings, for example, are very diverse and range from the building materials and components used (e.g. fire behavior and fire resistance), structural fire protection (e.g. fire compartments, fire doors, fire protection cladding), to escape route planning and extinguishing systems in buildings.
Installation-related fire protectionIn addition to systems for storing and supplying extinguishing water, this also includes fire alarm systems and automatic fire extinguishing systems (e.g. in the form of sprinkler systems and gas extinguishing systems), including the local storage of the associated extinguishing agents. This also includes, among other things:
