WELCOME TO OUR COMPANY
The Christian Catholic Church sees its mission as the living transmission of the message of salvation in the context of the respective times. In doing so, it draws on the experiences and treasures of the entire Christian tradition. It maintains close relations with the Orthodox Churches and the Anglican Church.
After extensive discussion, the Christian Catholic Church has approved the admission of women to the ordained ministry. Thus, both deaconesses and priestesses work alongside their male colleagues in pastoral care.
There is no mandatory connection between ordination and celibacy.
The modern Marian dogmas (Immaculate Conception, Assumption of Mary into Heaven) are rejected in their narrow interpretation.
Papal infallibility and the unlimited judicial authority of the Pope are not accepted.
The Christian Catholic Church of Basel-Stadt is a state church officially recognized by the canton. It is particularly committed to the welfare of all people in the city of Basel and throughout Switzerland.
The Christian Catholic Church is free to practice the broad spectrum of Christian tradition. There is no interference from the Vatican Curia.
There are special offerings for children, young people, families, women, and seniors in the life of the community. A central concern of pastoral care is to help individuals develop a living spirituality that can also prove itself in everyday life.
Christians from other Christian churches can join the Christian Catholic Church after a conversation with the pastoral care team. Those who have not yet been baptized become members of the Christian Catholic Church through baptism.
Organization and administration:
In the Christian Catholic Church of Switzerland, the Synod and the Synodal Council are the highest bodies. The bishop has an advisory vote there. He is responsible for matters of faith and pastoral care. The bishop also liaises with the so-called "Utrecht Union," an association of churches that do not submit to Roman absolutism.
In Basel-Stadt, the Christian Catholic Church is a public corporation. The parish assembly determines the content of its activities. The executive body is the church council.
In the canton of Basel-Landschaft, there is the State Church Council, parish councils in the individual parishes, and the parish assembly.
The Christian Catholic Church in Basel-Stadt is financed by church taxes, and in the canton of Basel-Landschaft by church taxes and cantonal subsidies. The parishes manage their own finances and publish their accounts annually, which are audited by a finance commission.
The central office of the Old Catholic Church in Switzerland is located at Willadingstrasse 39, 3003 Bern.
Willadingstrasse 39. Frank Bangerter holds the office of bishop.
