Dancing for Vincenzo is first and foremost passion. He starts with breakdancing and then moves on to tap. In 1994 he discovered tango, and in the following years he was lucky enough to study with some of the greats of the old guard: Juan Carlos Copes, Rodolfo Cieri, Pepito Avellaneda, Mingo Pugliese, Teté, and others. In 2000 he joined Adriana in Madrid, leaving behind a well-established tango school in Ticino and the Association of Friends of Argentine Tango that he co-founded the previous year.
Adriana, whose dream has always been to dance, decided in 1997 to leave for Spain to study at the famous flamenco academy Amor de Dios in Madrid. There she takes classes in flamenco, tango and ballet. Continued attendance at milongas makes her realize that tango is the dance that corresponds most to her.
Since 2000 Vincenzo and Adriana have been a steady couple in dance and in life, establishing their base in Madrid with frequent trips and stays in Buenos Aires. In those years, their meeting with Dana Frigoli and Pablo Villaraza marks a radical turning point in their way of dancing and teaching tango. In 2005, coinciding with the birth of their first child, they returned to Ticino and resumed the tango school they had started in Locarno. The following year they also opened a branch in Bellinzona.
In 2010 they moved back to Buenos Aires where they would have a unique professional experience. During this stay in Argentina they participate in some shows and have the honor of dancing in two important theaters in the capital. They will also perform in the famous milonga Sunderland bonaerense milonga and in the DNI studio milonga.
Since 2011 they have been chosen, along with some 20 other European couples, to be part of a working group directed by Mariano Chicho Frumboli, a great contemporary dancer.
In 2015, they formed the 1881 Tango Academy, with the aim of creating a larger space where they can live their passion for tango and dance, but also share moments of cultural and personal growth, in order to generate new energy and new emotions.
The 1881 Tango Academy, so renamed in 2015, harks back to the first Argentine tango school founded in Ticino in 1994 thanks to the initiative and passion of Vincenzo Muollo.
Since then, more than twenty years have passed characterized by constant commitment and hard work to try to bring as many people as possible closer to the knowledge of this art form, which has been declared UNESCO Intangible Universal Heritage since 2011.
Since 2005, the forces of Vincenzo Muollo and Adriana Juri have joined forces to create a school that stands out for the quality of its lessons. One of the principles of their teaching is to start from an in-depth analysis of the body's functionality and then obtain a method of application to dance.
The goal of 1881 Tango Academy is to train independent dancers who are aware of their bodies, with absolute control of placement, so that they understand how man and woman come into connection resulting in a soft and natural dance.
Adriana and Vincenzo with their innovative yet traditional style express harmony, sensuality and sophistication by combining the intensity of traditional tango with the new dynamics of contemporary tango.
