Hard is the cantonal collection center for the city and municipalities' waste collection service.

Refuse collection vehicles can unload the collected waste (household waste and green waste) at KBA Hard and then continue their collection route without any significant delay. The KBA Hard has the technical and logistical capacity to handle even large quantities of waste. However, businesses, industry, and private individuals can also drop off combustible waste, green waste, recyclable materials, and hazardous waste at the KBA Hard. The KBA Hard also has a collection point for animal carcasses.

We ensure optimal management and recycling of the various types of waste. Combustible waste is compressed for transport by rail, packaged in odor-free packaging, stored temporarily, and delivered to waste incineration plants during the winter months as needed. Waste compaction and temporary storage reduce the number of waste transports to incineration plants.
