The Hard is the cantonal acceptance center for the waste collection service of the city and the municipalities.

The refuse collection vehicles can unload the collected waste (household refuse and green waste) at KBA Hard and then continue their collection route without any major delays. KBA Hard has the technical and logistical facilities to handle large quantities of waste. However, trade and industry as well as private individuals can also hand in combustible waste, green waste, recycling materials and hazardous waste at KBA Hard. There is also a collection point for animal carcasses at KBA Hard.

We ensure optimal management and recycling of the various types of waste. The combustible waste is compacted for rail transport, packaged in odorless packaging and temporarily stored before being delivered to waste incineration plants in the winter months if required. Waste compaction and interim storage can reduce the number of waste transports to incineration plants.
