First and foremost, SEV represents the interests of its members vis-à-vis companies. One fundamental idea plays an important role here: as a collective, as a union, it is easier to defend ourselves and fight for fair conditions in the workplace than it is alone. We are therefore committed to ensuring that working conditions are fair and safe for everyone.

To achieve this, we not only negotiate with employers, but also lobby politicians at national and international level. We want politicians to create conditions that enable security and prosperity for employees. Protecting jobs is particularly important to us.

But the SEV does not only look after the "collective": locomotive drivers and travel agents, shunting workers and aircraft technicians, tram drivers, steamboat captains, administrative staff, and cable car specialists – we have contact persons for every professional group who support members in their respective industries.

Because the professions are as diverse as the individual demands placed on the SEV: continuing education, legal protection, discounts, career planning, conflict resolution... Here and in many other areas, SEV members can rely on the help and services of their union.

The union's main concerns are the following policy areas: collective bargaining agreement policy (CBA), union policy, transport policy, and social policy.
