The company was founded in 1950 by Ernst Ammann, Dipl.-Ing. ETHZ, together with one of his main clients under the name AMMANN & CO.

In 1971, AMMANN & CO. was transformed into the public limited company AMMANN PATENTANWÄLTE AG BERN. The founding members were Ernst Ammann and Martin Steiner. However, this transformation of the company had no influence on its activities and policies. After the death of Ernst Ammann in 1974, the company was managed by Martin Steiner as Chairman and Michel Seehof as Deputy Chairman. Michel Seehof has been Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors since 1995.

Our company today not only offers services in patent matters, we also assist our clients in trademark, design and model matters, offer assistance with license agreements or carry out searches. AMMANN PATENTANWÄLTE AG BERN currently employs three professional representatives and Swiss patent attorneys (ST, BL, MA) and one Swiss patent attorney (HZ)

supported by a competent secretariat and a translator.

The offices are centrally located in Bern, the federal capital, with good accessibility by car (own parking spaces) and close to the main railway station (10 minutes on foot). The Institute for Intellectual Property is not far away, so that urgent appointments, for example where a certificate of receipt is required, can be dealt with at little extra cost. Bern is also centrally located between the economic hubs of Zurich and Basel and the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO/OMPI in Geneva.

In 2015, all mandates were taken over from IPTO SA, with whom the premises had already been shared for years.
