Bettwil is the highest municipality in the canton of Aargau, located in the border region with the canton of Lucerne. Our neighboring municipalities are located in four different districts: Boswil, Buttwil, and Kallern in the district of Muri, Sarmenstorf in the district of Bremgarten, Fahrwangen in the district of Lenzburg, and Schongau in the district of Hochdorf, canton of Lucerne.

Bettwil already formed its own district in the Middle Ages. The pride of the old Bettwilers is evident in the fact that in 1561 they had their own club shield made, the oldest known club shield of a rural community.
