Commune de Blonay - Saint-Légier

Since January 1, 2022, we have been citizens of a new municipality: Blonay–Saint-Légier. This merger is the culmination of a long shared history.

We know how attached the inhabitants are to their village. Even though they will now be part of a larger entity, Blonay and Saint-Légier – La Chiésaz will retain their names, identities, and traditions. And rest assured, belonging to a new administrative entity will not bring about any major changes to our daily lives.

But this merger is still promising for the future and represents a unique opportunity to develop a shared vision, redefine our services, our role in the region, and our relationships with our partners.

At this pivotal moment, as our villages become towns, we have the opportunity to accelerate the energy transition, develop sustainable mobility, and ensure the controlled development of our territory. With the aim of promoting local employment and short supply chains, our municipality wishes to encourage the arrival of new businesses. With nearly 12,000 inhabitants, Blonay – Saint-Légier is becoming the fourth largest town on the Riviera, contributing de facto to a rebalancing of power between the shores of Lake Geneva and the municipalities further inland. Its size will give it greater influence on issues that are increasingly being dealt with at cantonal or regional level, particularly in the areas of security, mobility, tourism, and economic promotion for the preservation of jobs.

To achieve this, it is important that different sensibilities are able to express themselves. It will also be necessary to maintain a collegial spirit, promote a municipality that is open to dialogue and close to the population, and encourage participatory approaches to ensure that its projects are understood.

With around 100 employees and eight departments, the municipal administration provides numerous services to the population throughout the year. In order to maintain close relations with its residents, our new website gives you direct access to certain services and contact details.
