1. The chimney sweep ensures, as part of his cleaning activities, that heating systems comply with the applicable fire protection regulations.
2. He draws up a report of defects and sets deadlines for their rectification

3. Depending on the potential damage, reasonable deadlines must be set for rectifying the defects.
The district master chimney sweep will report any defects that have not been rectified within the deadline to the fire inspector of the municipality.
4. The district master chimney sweep carries out an inspection of the defects found in each municipality

Remedy of defects

1. The owners and operators of buildings and installations are responsible for ensuring that the defects identified are professionally rectified within the specified deadlines.
If conditions and measures are disregarded, the chimney sweep master, the municipality, Bern Buildings Insurance or BECO must ensure that they are implemented.

Duties of the chimney sweep

• For better understanding, the chimney sweep supplements each defect with a suggestion for rectification.
• To ensure that the defects can be clearly assigned to the property, the defect report must contain the following information:
  • Name of the contact person (customer)
  • Name of the municipality
  • Property address
  • Building no.
• The list of defects can be given to the customer with the receipt or enclosed with the invoice
