Auditing

Clear provisions

Today, a distinction is already made in practice between the auditing of public companies and economically significant enterprises on the one hand, and the auditing of small and medium-sized enterprises on the other. The new regulation provides clear legal provisions for this distinction.

Size and importance

It is no longer the legal form that determines whether a legal entity must have an auditor, but rather the size and significance of a company. The new provisions on the audit requirement apply to stock corporations, associations, and foundations. The audit requirement still does not apply to partnerships.

Ordinary or limited audit

A distinction is now made between "ordinary audits" and "limited audits." SMEs that do not exceed certain size criteria can benefit from a limited audit, which is less extensive than an ordinary audit. This offers small businesses the advantage of keeping the effort and costs of the audit within reasonable limits.
