With its tri-weekly publication on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, La Gruyère is a distinctive feature of the French-speaking media landscape. The title is aimed primarily at readers in the three districts of southern Fribourg: Gruyère, Glâne and Veveyse.

Since 1976, La Gruyère has belonged to the Saint-Paul group, which also publishes La Liberté.
