To obtain the A 35 kW license or the A1 subcategory, it is mandatory to complete the basic practical training for motorcycle students (art. 19 OAC) within four months of issuing the learner’s permit.

The basic practical training lasts 12 hours and consists of modules 1-2-3, which must be completed in chronological order.

Those who obtained the A1 license (before 01/01/2021) and wish to obtain the A 35 kW license must complete the training by only performing module 3 (4 hours).

Candidates for the A 35 kW license cannot complete the basic practical training with vehicles of the A1 subcategory.

Direct access to the unlimited A category is no longer possible, and one must wait 2 years from obtaining the A 35 kW category.

CHF 480.-- Full course 12 hours (modules 1-2-3)

CHF 180.-- Module 3 for students who have completed the 8-hour training for the A1 category (modules 1-2) at CorsiMoto

Minimum age for category A1

15 years: Light motorcycle with a maximum speed of 45 km/h (yellow license plate) with a cylinder capacity not exceeding 50 cm³ equipped with a spark-ignition engine or with a nominal power or continuous power of up to 4 kW for other engines.

16 years: Motor vehicles with a cylinder capacity not exceeding 125 cm³ and a maximum engine power of 11 kW.

Minimum age for category A 35 kW

18 years: Motor vehicles with an engine power not exceeding 35 kW and a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.20 kW/kg.
