AGE SA

Age Sa, which distributes drinking water, natural gas, and electricity, is the industrial services company of Chiasso, the municipality that owns all of its share capital. Its products benefit private, commercial, and industrial consumers residing in the border town and in the municipalities covered by the agreement.

It supplies electricity to the municipalities of Chiasso, including the hamlets of Pedrinate and Seseglio, Balerna, Morbio Inferiore, and Vacallo; The electricity, which comes from the departure portal of the Tana di Mendrisio substation belonging to Azienda Elettrica Ticinese (AET), is transported to Chiasso via a 50 kV power line and distributed in medium and low voltage to the municipalities mentioned above. Age Sa also supplies gas to these municipalities, as well as Coldrerio, Novazzano and, to a lesser extent, Castel San Pietro, via a network of underground pipes.

With the establishment of the public limited company in 2001, the municipality of Chiasso, owner of the municipal aqueduct infrastructure, commissioned Age Sa to manage the distribution of drinking water within its water network. In the following years, this choice was also made by the municipalities of Balerna (2005), Vacallo (2009), and Morbio Inferiore (2011), which entrusted Age Sa with the technical management of their aqueducts and, in the case of Vacallo, also with their administrative management.

In order to respond efficiently and quickly to the needs of its users, Age Sa, with its 60 employees divided between field and administrative teams, has a 24-hour on-call service that can be reached via the unified number 0840 22 33 33.

Age Sa supplements the distribution of its three main products with other services. For example, it makes fiber optics laid in its own infrastructure available to those who request it.

In addition to supplying traditional electricity, Age Sa – sensitive to environmental issues – combines this with the production of electricity from renewable energy sources through the construction of photovoltaic systems by its subsidiary Agere Sa in Chiasso.
