What is occupational therapy?
Occupational therapy is a healthcare profession with medical, psychosocial and pedagogical foundations.
Occupational therapy is based on the principle that "being active" is a fundamental human need, for health and well-being, which gives us a sense of satisfaction.
In 2011, the ASE (L'Association Suisse des Ergothérapeutes) adopted this new definition: "Occupational therapy is a profession focused on developing and maintaining people's capacity to act. It contributes to improving health and quality of life. It facilitates participation in society by enabling people to take part in daily activities. "
The heart of occupational therapy is occupation in the sense of carrying out activities. The occupational therapist stands at the crossroads of the person, his or her environment, both social and material, and his or her occupations.
For whom?
In therapy, we see children with difficulties in carrying out daily activities, due, for example, to a :
specific writing disorder
coordination development disorder (CDD)
autism spectrum disorder (ASD, Asperger's)
attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity (ADHD)
high intellectual potential (HPI)
developmental delay
cerebral palsy cerebral palsy
plagiocephaly for newborns
various congenital syndromes
We work in collaboration with the family, doctors, teachers, psychologists, speech therapists and other professionals involved with the child.
