Doris Lavin:
The extraordinary Cuban singer Doris Teresa Lavin made her debut in Havana, selected from Lazaro Herrera's Septeto Nacional, and became the founder and singer of the Son las que son band. In 1991-92, the popular singing department opened at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, where she studied and then perfected her skills by collaborating with various groups such as Son Imagen and Sonora Caribena. She then accompanied the group led by Alain Perez (former musical director Isaac Delgado). Doris gave a series of concerts in Spain in 1999, and it was from this encounter that the excellent CD bearing her name was recorded in Madrid, arranged and produced by Alain Perez, Javier "Carmel" Gutierrez, and Jose Rivero, renowned names in Cuban music. She toured Europe and Russia and chose to settle in Italy. From 2008 onwards, she continued her work with the traditional Cuban music project, traveling through the world of Cuban jazz and integrating the genre into Cuban music styles such as Afro, Bolevec Juan de la Cruz Antomarchi, two songs from the Neapolitan songbook with Ros playing more and more improvisation (Sonidos de Cuba). In 2009, she collaborated on numerous music festivals and other events. In 2010, Son's traditional songs were rearranged. In 2012, she recorded two singles with Juan de la Cruz Antomarchi, "Que Pena Me Da" and "Yumbeo," in Havana, Cuba, which took her around the world with her project "Bakumbatà," as well as to various jazz festivals (such as the Pozzuoli Festival, Alburnums Jazz Festival, World Music Festival in Castelsardo, Sardinia, and many others). In 2013, she recorded another "Negro Paton" with a DJ in Naples. She continued her musical research with "in-depth Cuban Jazz." 2014-2015 saw her tour the largest cities in India (Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune) during jazz festivals. 2016 was the year of the production of two important albums: "El Secreto del Amor" with Ivan Lewis Melon (2015 Grammy Award selection) and Roman Filiu (New York) in Barcelona; "Ora Napoli," which revisits the great historical themes of Neapolitan song with Ernesto Bravo Perez.
From 2016 onwards, she continued her work with the traditional Cuban music project, traveling through the world of Cuban jazz and integrating the genre into Cuban music styles such as Afro-Cuban.
