Limeco is the central utility company for the Limmat Valley and plays an important role in the region's sustainable energy and waste management. With the aim of ensuring environmentally friendly and resource-efficient supply, Limeco offers the population both clean regional heating and environmentally friendly regional electricity. The company relies on modern technologies and innovative processes to make energy production efficient and sustainable.
In addition to energy supply, Limeco also handles waste recycling and wastewater treatment for the Limmat Valley. Around 90 employees work at the Dietikon site, ensuring the smooth operation of the waste recycling plant, the wastewater treatment plant, and the extensive regional heating network. The waste recycling plant processes waste from the region to generate valuable energy, while the wastewater treatment plant treats wastewater in an environmentally friendly manner, thus contributing to the cleanliness of local waters.
As a public company, Limeco operates on behalf of and is owned by eight supporting municipalities: Dietikon, Geroldswil, Oberengstringen, Oetwil an der Limmat, Schlieren, Unterengstringen, Urdorf, and Weiningen. These municipalities work closely with Limeco to ensure a sustainable and reliable supply for the region. Through its cooperation with the supporting municipalities and the use of state-of-the-art technologies, Limeco makes a decisive contribution to the energy transition and environmental protection in the Limmat Valley.
