In 1928, building contractor Johann Arnet-Wigger (1890-1981) founded a haulage company. However, he also offered trips in a company car. The company car consisted of a truck with benches on the loading area. The Entlebuch fire department, for example, used it to get to burning buildings. Clubs also used the easily convertible company van for excursions.

In 1944, Johann Arnet-Wigger handed over the "transportation" branch of the business to his son Hans Arnet-Huwyler (1920-2010). He bought the first new truck in 1954, a Saurer diesel with 125 hp. Blue became the company color. In 1965, the business location was moved from Eimatt to Ziegelmatt (now Russacher 6 and 8), Entlebuch. In the same year, the Magirus-Deutz four-wheel drive vehicle was purchased especially for a major road construction project in Sörenberg. In addition to tipper vehicles, the company fleet now also included two overland vehicles.

In 1972, Hans Ruedi Arnet-Odermatt (1947) took over the two overland vehicles from his father. Hans Ruedi Arnet-Odermatt created a new logo for the takeover. As early as 1973, a (second-hand) lifting crane was purchased and installed on one of the two overland vehicles, a Scania Vabis LB76. From then on, crane work became an important area of activity for the company. In 1978, the company was commissioned by the municipality of Entlebuch and later for the canton of Lucerne to carry out snow clearing work on the cantonal road with its own plow. In 1982, Hans Ruedi Arnet also took over the tipper trucks and the parking garage from his father. Another milestone was the refuse disposal contract for the municipality of Entlebuch, which was initially carried out with a rented vehicle. With the establishment of a special-purpose association, the disposal area was steadily expanded. From 2003 onwards, waste disposal was carried out in seven municipalities in the Entlebuch using a new, dedicated vehicle. Over the following years, the vehicle fleet continued to grow and the versatility of the company expanded. In 2011, the sole proprietorship of Hans R. Arnet was transformed into arnet transporte ag as part of a long-term succession plan.

In keeping with tradition, Erika and Hans Ruedi Arnet-Odermatt handed over the reins to the next generation after 45 years of "transpörtle". On New Year's Day 2017, the company will be handed over to the next, third generation. Adrian Arnet takes over the management from this date. The company continues to diversify into a logistics partner for various regional industrial companies.

As of 31.12.2022, arnet transporte ag was able to acquire Sammelsurium AG Wolhusen from Brigitte Imbach as part of a succession plan. Sammelsurium AG is a well-known recycling company in the Wolhusen region and beyond. Sammelsurium AG's field of activity ideally complements that of arnet transporte ag, so that the area of comprehensive waste disposal and logistics solutions can be further strengthened.
