Brief company profile

Blumer Söhne + Cie AG was originally a spinning mill. However, production was discontinued in the fall of 1990. From that point on, the company's purpose was changed to the further development and management of the real estate owned by the company. Today, most of the buildings that became vacant when production ceased are being used for new purposes.

Our small team rents, maintains, and manages these properties. We are also working consistently to further develop the remaining potential so that properties that are not yet usable can soon serve a new purpose.

Real estate

A new diversity of life has developed in the buildings of the former spinning mill, most of which date back to the 19th century. They now house a wide variety of commercial and service businesses, warehouses and studios, lofts and apartments.

The spinning mill complex is considered an important witness to an economic, social, and architectural era. It has therefore been classified by the monument preservation authorities as a protected object of cantonal importance.

The former foundry buildings are used as warehouses, parking garages, hobby rooms, and craft rooms.

The company built residential buildings for its employees at an early stage, the oldest of which also date from the 19th century. These continue to be used as apartments.

Designplan

Blumer Söhne und Cie AG is drawing up a private design plan for the former spinning mill and foundry site, which is located in the heart of Freienstein. The company began converting the site for new uses soon after it closed in 1990, but this design plan now represents the biggest step yet towards comprehensive redevelopment.

For the residents of the lower Tösstal valley, especially those of Freienstein, this development step by Blumer Söhne AG is of no small importance. On the one hand, the village of 2,500 inhabitants will be expanded by around 130 residential units, and on the other hand, the new buildings will significantly shape the village character of Freienstein.
