Short company profile

The company Blumer Söhne + Cie AG was originally a spinning mill. However, production was discontinued in the fall of 1990. From this point onwards, the company's purpose was changed to the further development and management of the real estate owned by the company. Today, a large proportion of the buildings vacated by the cessation of production have been repurposed.

Our small team rents, maintains and manages these properties. We also work consistently to further develop the potential that still exists so that properties that are not yet usable today can soon fulfill a new purpose.

Real estate

A new diversity of life has developed in the buildings of the former spinning mill, most of which date back to the 19th century. There are commercial and service businesses of various kinds, warehouses and studios, lofts and apartments.

The ensemble of the spinning mill complex is considered an important witness to an economic, social and architectural epoch. It was therefore classified as a protected object of cantonal importance by the heritage authorities.

The former foundry buildings are used for storage, parking, hobby and craft rooms.

The company built residential buildings for its employees early on, the oldest of which also date back to the 19th century. These are still used as apartments.

Design plan

The company Blumer Söhne und Cie AG is drawing up a private design plan for the former spinning and foundry site, which is located in the heart of Freienstein. Following the closure of the factory in 1990, the company began early on with conversions, but this design plan is now preparing the biggest step to date towards comprehensive new use.

This development step by Blumer Söhne AG is of no small importance to the residents of the lower Töss Valley, especially those of Freienstein. On the one hand, around 130 residential units will be added to the village of 2500 souls, and on the other, the new buildings will significantly shape the character of the village of Freienstein.
