Fribourg's very first crematorium came into being in 2010, under the impetus of Pompes funèbres P. Murith SA, respectively its administrator, Mr. Jean-Pierre Rossier. This modern facility is ideally located in Fribourg's city cemetery.

The ashes of the deceased are entrusted to the funeral directors, who pass them on to the families. Depending on the deceased's last wishes and aspirations, the funerary urn is kept or deposited at the cemetery, in a cinerary grave, columbarium or memorial garden.
