Wasps :

In spring, queens (large wasps) appear, sometimes confused with hornets. These queens, after spending the winter under cover, seek out a suitable nesting place at the start of the warmer season. Wasp colonies only develop from June onwards. It's only when the activity of the workers (normal-sized wasps) begins that colonies are set up.
