The Museum of Art and History in Fribourg (MAHF) is housed in a Renaissance palace and a former slaughterhouse in the picturesque old town. Its collection focuses on artworks and historical objects from the canton of Fribourg, including internationally significant ensembles such as early medieval belt buckles, the Easter sepulchre from Maigrauge Abbey, altar paintings by Hans Fries, late Gothic sculpture, works by Marcello and her circle, and pieces by Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle. Monumental sculptures are displayed in the museum garden.
