Self-employed with casauno

Joël Strahm had just two weeks to decide between becoming self-employed and looking for a new job. The company "casacare GmbH", for which he had been providing caretaking services for four years, had decided to sell this very area. As Joël Strahm had done his work to everyone's satisfaction and largely on his own, he received an extremely fair takeover offer in advance.

At the beginning of May 2021, "casacare" informed Joël Strahm of its intention to sell and encouraged him to seriously consider taking over the caretaking duties. He immediately realized the uniqueness of this opportunity to set up his own business, as the offer included taking over the existing maintenance contracts as well as most of the necessary equipment. A win-win situation for everyone involved, as the maintenance would continue as before for all customers, but under a new ownership structure.

Should he really take the risk and go into business for himself? From now on, he would be solely responsible for the business: looking after customers, attracting new customers, planning and executing orders, invoicing, bookkeeping, maintaining and renewing vehicles and equipment, planning future purchases such as winter maintenance equipment,

and above all, he would be responsible for ensuring that there was always enough money coming in to pay all expenses and insurance premiums, including pensions - not forgetting to pay himself a salary.

Taking the chance

Joël Strahm is a positive, energetic person and loves his work so much that he was confident enough to take on the new challenge - thanks in part to the fair takeover offer, including customers. He was therefore able to start with an order volume that would actually cover all the regular costs from the outset.

At the end of May, the approximate selling price was set, and after two meetings, all the details were settled and the final purchase price negotiated. The transfer date was set for July 1, 2021, which was just three weeks away!

"casauno" is the new company name

The new company is to be called "casauno". A hectic time began. Everything had to be organized in the remaining three weeks: Setting up a warehouse, selecting and ordering the missing equipment such as hedge trimmers, string mowers, lawn mowers, high-pressure cleaners, back blowers and cordless backpack vacuum cleaners. All necessary insurances and occupational benefits had to be taken out by 1 July, the vehicle and trailer had to be re-registered to the new company at the MFK Solothurn, an inventory of vehicles, equipment and supplies had to be taken, the opening balance sheet for future bookkeeping had to be drawn up, loans and credit had to be organized and a business account had to be opened. The logo had not yet been finalized graphically either, but the vehicle lettering had to be corrected on the first day, letters were needed and the first supplier invoices were already due.
