Basics of joint technology

Joint width
The joint width is usually 10mm to 35mm. The depth of the sealant must not be less than 8mm.

Sanitary joints
In the case of sanitary joints, it is important to ensure that there is a sufficiently large gap at the connections between the floor and wall and in the corners of the room. If the joint is incorrectly designed or too narrow, it is easy for even highly elastic silicone to overstretch and the joint to crack. In the case of horizontal sanitary joints, coving and standing water should also be avoided.

Maintenance joints
Maintenance joints must withstand high chemical and/or physical demands. Regular inspection and renewal is therefore essential. Typical maintenance joints are joints in wet rooms, swimming pools, sumps or can also be found in the chemical industry, in sewage treatment plants, at filling stations and bottling plants.
