The company Farner Gartenbau was founded in 1987 as a sole proprietorship by Martin Farner- Schmid from Oberstammheim in Guntalingen ZH. Together with his wife Gabriela Farner- Schmid, father-in-law Fritz Schmid and brother-in-law Thomas Schmid, the company began to develop into a flexible small business with good, long-standing specialists and modern, practical machinery.

In 2003, the company was transformed into Farner Gartenbau AG, with Martin Farner retaining the management. Partners are Gabriela Farner- Schmid and Thomas Schmid, who have been actively involved since the company was founded in 1987.
