Foundation date: September 6, 1963 in Amriswil
On this day, a long-awaited wish of the animal lovers of Amriswil and the surrounding area came true. In the Gambrinus restaurant, the Amriswil and Surroundings Animal Welfare Association was founded, the purpose of the association was defined and the first board was elected. The membership fee was set at CHF 3. This allowed the animal welfare association to begin its work.
The animal welfare association then began its work. The number of members quickly grew to over 100. In order to promote club life, club outings and much more were organized. Today, the association's regular program includes the bowling championship, the club outing, the stand at the spring market, the bazaar and much more.
The set tasks and goals of the association:
The commitment to animals
Through our reporting office, the association receives information about grievances of all kinds in connection with animals. We check these reports and try to improve the situation in personal discussions with those affected. If this has no effect, the relevant authorities, vets or other bodies are informed, depending on the case. Informants are only disclosed with their express consent.
Advice
The board is happy to provide information on questions about and around animals, animal procurement, animal husbandry, problems with animals and refers to experts, specialist literature and other advice centers via the reporting office.
Lost or stray animals
In cooperation with the surrounding sections of the Animal Welfare Association, the police, official agencies and other organizations, the report office accepts information about missing and found or stray animals. We also receive reports from outside our area of responsibility and forward them to the relevant sections.
Association structure
The board consists of:
President, Vice President, Treasurer, Actuary and 3 assessors.
The association is a member of the Thurgau Animal Welfare Association.
