What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy is a medically prescribed remedy and is used to treat people of all ages with congenital or acquired limitations in their ability to cope with everyday life and their ability to act.

In therapy, skills are developed, maintained or re-learned to achieve the greatest possible independence in everyday life. Occupational therapy is based on the assumption that activity and action are basic human needs and that targeted, meaningful activities have a health-promoting effect.
