I was born in the Netherlands and graduated in veterinary medicine in Utrecht in 2006. In search of adventure, I emigrated directly to New Zealand, where I worked in large animal practice and as a teacher at Massey University. I already had a great interest in New World camelids in New Zealand. From 2010 to 2014, I worked at Bern Animal Hospital as a vet, researcher, clinic coordinator and teacher. Even then, I always enjoyed looking after the alpacas and llamas. I was back in New Zealand until mid-2016 before coming to Switzerland for good in the summer of 2016. After a few years as an assistant in a large animal practice near Bern, I decided on January 1, 2019 to dedicate myself 100% independently to New World camelid medicine. In 2022 I completed my training as a New World camelid specialist at the University of Liverpool and since then I have been the only specialist for llamas and alpacas in Switzerland!

I am at home with my partner on a farm with 40 suckler cows in the Bernese Seeland. In my free time, I'm a passionate long-distance runner, mountaineer, mountain biker, flamenco dancer and cook (because I love to eat).
