Art: Rolf Knie's passion is the circus. His vita reveals the most diverse facets and stages of the circus world; after all, Knie was born into the creative cosmos of the fascinating world of the circus ring. He is artistically transparent and human, in other words authentic.

Rolf Knie is always exploring boundaries. He seeks a direct dialog between spectator and viewer and constantly redefines his subject matter. The artists, acrobats, clowns and exotic animals, but also his own experiences and, not least, life in the circus world are reflected in his paintings. He acts as an artist in front of an audience just as he does as a creator of art  in front of the canvas.
This raises the question of how performing art can be reconciled with fine art. How might one manifest the term "art"? Ultimately, everything intertwines with Rolf Knie. He manages the balancing act, switching between genres - it could not and cannot be more empathetic and direct. Rolf Knie's extensive oeuvre of paintings, sculptures and drawings has found its way into prestigious collections. Exhibitions at home and abroad confirm his success and his position in contemporary art. At the Rolf Knie Gallery in Jona, the current works are presented at the permanent exhibition.
