In 2023 Claudio Tamborini was honored among the best 150 winemakers in Switzerland by the prestigious wine and food guide Gault & Millau
.
Born in 1944 as a wine import company, Tamborini Carlo SA in 1978 began acquiring vineyards in Ticino (to date 27 hectares) and producing its own wines. In addition to Merlot wines including the award-winning Comano and SanZeno Costamagna, the ESPE line, "experiences" and "I Macerati," the fruits of new grape varieties or new winemaking techniques, are worth noting.
The values of tradition and innovation, combine with sustainability: plans are being implemented to abolish herbicides in the vineyard and to zero plant protection product residues in wines. Not only that, new interspecific PIWI vines have been planted that require fewer treatments.
The Vinoteca in Lamone (Lugano) has more than 500 labels: signature Tamborini wines, wines from Italy, France, Spain, Champagne, distilled spirits and rare whiskies (Slainte Ticino location). The winery hosts tastings in the cellar and events in its Spazio Emozioni room; it is also possible to stay in its B&B Tenuta Vallombrosa to live a real wine experience in Ticino.
