The human eye provides sharp vision when it is perfectly spherical. Distortions can occur when the eyeball or cornea are not quite spherical, causing blurred vision. Frequently diagnosed vision problems, the most common are: astigmatism, myopia, hyperopia and presbyopia. Heredity is often the cause of astigmatism, myopia and hyperopia, and there is no means of prevention.

Presbyopia is a vision anomaly due mainly to aging, nothing can be done to prevent it.The main symptoms encountered range from blurred vision to visual fatigue to headaches. Keratoconus, or keratoconus from the Greek keratos for cornea and conus for cone shape, is a bilateral, asymmetrical, idiopathic corneal dystrophy characterized by progressive, non-inflammatory thinning.
