Dr. med. Stauffacher Maurice
How shall I introduce myself, to you who do me the honor of devoting a few minutes of your time to visit my website?
You my patients, my friends, my colleagues, my children and my five grandchildren too;
First of all Cendrine teacher and yoga instructor, who since 1997 has made me a young and happy grandfather.
Of course my grown-up daughter Ludmila, settled in Versoix as a child psychiatrist.
My son Maurice Werner, who after graduating as a doctor undertook training as a psychiatrist.
And Guillaume, at the Gymnase de la Cité, who plans to become a doctor
All in all, the personal experience of well-conducted psychoanalysis represents the most accomplished form of treatment for psychological suffering and various mental disorders, one might say the Rolls Royce of psychotherapies. There's no need to enter into a personal testimony, because no one could propose an analytic treatment if they hadn't experienced it on themselves.
Meeting a seasoned psychoanalyst represents a unique and irreplaceable experience in a psychiatrist's training curriculum, and I cannot recommend this experience highly enough to my younger colleagues. However, the psychoanalytic experience requires a considerable investment of time and money, the medical indication is restricted and requires a relatively developed and preserved mental functioning. Before you can learn to play music well, you often have to repair the piano first; that's why we offer our patients all kinds of psychotherapies inspired by psychoanalysis, but which we adapt to each individual's goals, limitations, availability and financial means. Very willingly we will introduce hypnotic sequences, systemic-type interventions, even medication or work incapacity, to relieve suffering more quickly.
The aim of analytical work is simple. Ever since we were born, the destiny of human consciousness has been to know ourselves, to come to terms with who we are. We might as well become good company for ourselves and know how to resolve the conflicts that arise, make choices and thereby discover the priceless fragrance of freedom. Conflicts abound, from childhood onwards, in sexuality, in relationships and at work. This leads to the first observation of psychoanalysis, namely that the basis of the psyche is conflict, mobilizing our resources in frustration. The analytical approach will consist in flushing out the various arrangements, in the form of unresolved unconscious intrapsychic conflicts, which we perceive as internal tensions, inhibitions, anxieties, depressions and which refer back to a re-actualized past.
