Created in 1948, the Fédération vaudoise des Maîtres ferblantiers, appareilleurs et couvreurs was statutorily intended to coordinate the actions of local and regional associations of master tinsmiths, sanitary fitters and roofers in the canton.

Historically, this mission has evolved significantly in light of the structural and cyclical problems faced by its members, particularly in terms of basic vocational training and issues related to its financing.

In fact, the constant increase in the number of apprentices in the professions it represents forced the Federation to take an in-depth look a few years ago, leading to the construction of its own workshops in Tolochenaz, as part of the Ecole de la Construction extension project.

As a result, since the start of the school year in summer 2003, all inter-company courses have been held there.

The Federation participates regularly and actively in the " political " debates of the umbrella association suissetec, however while retaining its autonomy of regional action due also to the existence of the collective labor agreement for tinsmithing, roofing and sanitary installation in the canton of Vaud, whose scope of application is extended.
