The special school is run at primary level in three small classes with 6 to a maximum of 7 pupils per class. The Fähre day school thrives on the great commitment of its staff to the children, the young people and the institution. Pedagogical action is at the forefront of the work. The focus is on the abilities of the individual.
Since group processes are one of the biggest problems for the pupils at the Fähre day school, special attention is paid to findings from systems and communication theory in the educational work.
At primary level, some of the lessons take place in the comprehensive school, for example music and sports lessons as well as the respective weekly projects. This gives everyone the opportunity to practise their school work in a large group. All pupils at the Fähre day school eat lunch together.
