LANDI Melchnau-Bützberg is an independent LANDI with around 280 cooperative members. The members are mainly active or former farmers and private individuals with a connection to agriculture.

The supreme body is the annual general meeting. The board meets with the management about 8 times a year for a meeting.

We provide a full range of services for the farmers - who also own it.

In the LANDI Markets retail division, we offer our customers a wide range of products for home and garden as well as hobby and leisure.

In the energy sector, we trade in combustibles & fuels, as well as renewable energies and operate several AGROLA filling stations.

Turf

The UFA turf mixtures are made up of suitable grass species and good turf breeding varieties. Specific mixtures are used depending on the intended use and stress requirements:

UFA Primera Highspeed

With treated meadow grass
The meadow grass seed pre-treated with Headstart or PreGerm  germinates faster and can suppress weeds better right from the start. Compared to UFA-PRIMERA, UFA-PRIMERA Highspeed is even more durable and hardly tends to form felt.

UFA-Primera

Top turf mixture for (almost) all cases 
UFA-PRIMERA is a top-class universal turf mixture. It contains the world's best turf varieties and quickly forms a dense, hard-wearing yet low-maintenance turf thanks to rapid youth development. Ideal for house lawns.

UFA Regeneration Highspeed

With germination-accelerated meadow grass for reseeding
Because the germination period is significantly shortened by pretreating the meadow grass, the weeds can be better suppressed from the outset. As a result, the turf becomes dense again more quickly and the lawns are more resilient.

Turf renovation, sports facilities and home lawns
Seeding rate: 15 g / m2

 

UFA sports turf 

Extremely tread- and shear-resistant sports turf mixture
The high proportion of meadow grass causes a somewhat slower juvenile development, but the turf is dense, extremely tread- and shear-resistant and impresses with a beautiful color aspect. UFA sports turf is a must for heavily used lawns.

Sports fields, playgrounds, swimming pool lawns, sunbathing lawns

UFA shade turf 

For shady locations
This top shade turf mixture is characterized by the lawn grasses rough bluegrass and lawn meadow grass and is suitable for both new and reseeding in really shady locations. Proper care is particularly important with this special mixture: with an appropriate cut (every 3 weeks and a cutting height of approx. 5 cm) and a sufficient supply of nutrients, a dense sward forms. This can also suppress moss.

Seeding rate: 30 g / m2
Reseeding: 20 g / m2
Cutting height: 4-6 cm

UFA flowering lawn CH

Natural turf with low-growing flowers and herbs
UFA Flower Lawn CH combines the properties of a grass lawn that can be walked on at any time with the ecological and aesthetic values of a flower meadow. It has a light to medium load-bearing capacity and is extremely low-maintenance. Depending on the nutrient supply of the soil, 4 - 6 cuts per year are necessary.

UFA-Tival

For dry and polluted sites
UFA-Tival with a high proportion of tall fescue is particularly suitable for "dry" regions on the Central Plateau, as well as Valais and Ticino. UFA-Tival requires less watering than "normal" grass mixtures. The dense and resilient turf also has excellent summer and winter color.

UFA-Andante

With crested wheatgrass for a fine-leaved exclusive turf
UFA-Andante is a fine ornamental turf of the latest generation. In contrast to other ornamental turf mixtures, it requires comparatively little maintenance. It only requires light fertilization and needs to be cut less frequently. Regular scarifying is necessary.

UFA-UniVERT

The all-round turf mixture in a small pack
This universal mixture contains the best turf grasses and is suitable for (almost) all locations. It is resilient, tolerates shade and drought and is disease-resistant. It is suitable for both new seeding and reseeding.

Rolling turf

If you want to get green quickly, rolled turf is the convincing alternative to conventional lawn seeding

The UFA PRIMERA rolled turf is particularly suitable for a quick green in home gardens and public facilities.

Use of the home lawn after approx. three weeks
Low risk of weeds
No long development times
Only option for creating new lawns outside of the sowing season

Lawn care

Old lawns often have delayed growth, are matted, patchy and therefore no longer fully resilient. There are many reasons for this: inadequate maintenance, lack of nutrients, inappropriate use, waterlogging, strong competition from weeds and moss, etc.

The aim of regeneration is to repair gaps and unevenness, promote grass growth and introduce turf-specific, hardy species into the turf. This involves working on the turf and the upper root layer.

How to scarify

A scarifier is used to comb out the felt layer.

Small lawns can be treated with a hand tool. For larger areas, it is advisable to use a device with a petrol engine.

The scarifying machines are equipped with rotating blades that lightly score the ground. This does not damage the grass, but the felt is removed.

The blades of the device must be set at ground level. Be careful: If you scarify too deeply, you will damage the roots of the grass (scarify no more than 3 mm below the surface).

As with a lawn mower, the scarifier is used to cut across the lawn in a single pass, once lengthwise and once crosswise.

When to scarify?

The ideal time for scarifying is spring (March to May). This frees the lawn from winter thatch and helps it to look fresh again.

The lawn can also be treated in the fall (until the end of September) to remove weeds. This time is also ideal for reseeding and smoothing out uneven areas.

Aerify

Heavy and compacted soils are poorly permeable to water, air and nutrients and need to be loosened. This is preferably done with a special aerator. When "aerating" with the aerator, soil cones are cut out. This results in better aeration of the root area and compacted soil becomes more permeable. This particularly benefits the roots, which can grow deeper again.

If mechanical aerification is necessary, contact a gardening specialist. These companies have the necessary expertise and suitable machinery.

Fears of recession and concerns about the development of demand were reinforced yesterday by further US economic data. The latest economic figures are an unfortunate combination of weaker-than-expected US economic growth and stronger-than-expected price inflation. With this new data, the probability of the Fed raising interest rates by 25 basis points at the next interest rate meeting has increased again. A potential for slight price increases can be seen on the oil exchanges today.

USD/CHF

The US dollar has risen in value overnight. It is trading above the 89 centime mark again this morning. The pace of economic growth in the US is slowing noticeably. Experts believe that the economy will not look good in the coming months. The restrictive monetary policy will increasingly be a disadvantage. The signals are pointing to recession, although this is expected to be mild.

Our recommendation

Heating oil prices on the Swiss heating oil market resume their upward trend on the last day of this working week. Despite this, the current prices have reached a new low for the year. The additional OPEC+ production cuts will begin in May and demand for petrol and diesel will increase due to the May holidays in China and the start of the US driving season. The potential undersupply of the oil market is therefore likely to establish itself as a price-driving factor in the near future.
