Description
I would like to introduce myself briefly. My name is Karin Nievergelt and I was born on 13.2.1964 in Affoltern a/A. Our family includes my son Reto and my daughter Deborah, who fortunately share my love of animals, especially dogs.
Now, one thing at a time. After endless barnstorming, I got my first dog at the age of 11, a poodle called Jasmine. I didn't care what breed, as long as I got a dog, but for my mother it had to be a poodle. Over the years, I raised Jasmin to be the purest acrobatic dog and she was my constant companion for many years and we had a lot of fun together.
As I approached the end of school, I started to think about what the right career choice might be for me. A friend pointed out to me that there was still a vacancy for an apprenticeship as a groomer and dog hairdresser with Mrs. Vögeli from the "Kerberos" kennel, an active exhibitor and breeder of various breeds, including Cairn Terriers. At the interview, I immediately realized that this was the right job for me, and I completed my three-year apprenticeship from 1980-1983 at this kennel. From those years on, it was clear to me that if I ever had a small dog, it would have to be a Cairn Terrier. I was taken with these small, cheeky, funny, upright terriers. But it would be some time before I got my first Cairn Terrier.
First of all, I became infatuated with the Gordon Setter. This dog breed was to accompany me through my life for the next 25 years. In 1983, I bought my first Gordon Setter bitch, Ubine des Endroites. This bitch became my first breeding bitch and had her first litter in 1988. Breeder's luck: 11 puppies were born and of course one was allowed to stay, Angie Black Rider. The B litter followed, and from the C litter I then kept Crazy Black Rider, with whom I began to train for hunting tests and to run her successfully in such tests. It was incredibly fun to see this spirited dog working in a hunting test, to see how the dog, handler and gunner had to work together perfectly, to direct the dog at a distance with commands, to see how he did what was asked of him on the long imaginary lead, incredibly fascinating. It was a really great time!
In 1998, the first "unfortunately" red Cairn Terrier bitch "Paperlapap's Gischpel" joined the team. I always dreamed of a black Cairn Terrier, and it wasn't too long before Cairn no. 2 + 3 arrived in our household, Moët (Paperlapap's Lady of Gabrionni) a brindle bitch and Knöpfli (Paperlapap's Best of Breed), the "almost" black bitch. I then kept a red bitch "Fly Black Rider" from Gischpel's last litter. This is the beginning of my hobby and hobby breeding with Cairn Terriers and Gordon Setters. More information about my dogs at our dogs.
My professional career has actually always had to do with animals, be it after my apprenticeship as a groom in a boxer kennel, or as a groom for Paul Hürlimann, the well-known military rider from Mettmenstetten. Reto was born in 1989, and his sister Deborah followed him in 1993.
