Our school
Lycée Pareto is the only private school in Switzerland authorized to award two diplomas (European Baccalaureate and French Baccalaureate S) simultaneously, giving direct access to all Swiss and European universities.
Our history
Lycée Pareto in Lausanne was founded in 1948 by Professor Comini. Its name refers to the Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who taught at the University of Lausanne from 1894 to 1907, and whose work is still used today in finance, management, and many other fields.
At the end of the 2002/03 school year, the school moved to its current location in the historic center of Lausanne. The new building is designed and adapted for educational purposes and is closer to home for students who commute.
Starting in the 2005/06 school year, the school became a bilingual Italian-Swiss high school. The project, approved by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is based on a completely bilingual high school curriculum.
The Pareto High School offers high-quality education, certified by the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems (SQS) and IQNET, in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 standards.
Teaching
The Pareto High School aims to educate young people to face the academic, professional, and personal challenges that life may present them with.
Our school promotes a teaching model based on the integration of the subjects studied in order to provide a broad and interconnected cognitive foundation.
Lycée Pareto promotes the development of each student's analytical skills, enabling them to understand a problem, devise an effective solution, and carry out the planned project within the time frame and in the manner required by the teacher.
The school's curriculum spans four years, at the end of which students must take an internal exam to obtain their final diploma, which is accepted by all Swiss and European universities.
To enroll in our school, students must have an Italian lower secondary school diploma or an equivalent qualification, certifying that they have completed eight years of study. Students are then admitted to intermediate or final year classes, depending on the curriculum they have already completed. (For more information, download the school year conversion table).

ESABAC study program
ESABAC is a study program established by a bilateral agreement signed between France and Italy. Its objective is to offer adequate training in both the north and south of the Alps, facilitating cultural exchange and linguistic enrichment, while providing easier access to Italian, French, and European universities.
The name clearly indicates the intention of the program's designers: ESA (Esame di Stato Italiano) and BAC (French Baccalaureate).
The way this program works is very simple. In addition to the subjects taught at Lycée Pareto, there are extra hours of French language and literature, as well as history (two hours per week). Given the small number of extra hours, our school has decided to extend this ESABAC offer to all new students enrolled from the 2015-2016 school year onwards.
This means that by attending classes at Lycée Pareto, students can obtain three diplomas in one: a Swiss diploma (valid for admission to all universities in the Swiss Confederation), the Italian scientific Maturità, and the French Baccalauréat S. This is undoubtedly a significant advantage that our school can offer its students. Finally, thanks to the high quality of its teaching programs, Lycée Pareto is the only school in Switzerland to have received ESABAC accreditation.
