The cement joint
The cement-bound grouting is not acid-resistant. The joint is attacked by a long exposure time to the cleaning agent. It becomes porous and cracked. Such cracks can allow water to penetrate behind the covering and possibly cause water damage over the years.

The silicone joint
The silicone joint is elastic and soft, it absorbs movements and stresses in the substrate to a certain extent. If the movements become too great, it tears off. Even small cracks can cause damage over time.

Unfortunately, these joints are also susceptible to fungi. Soap residue, skin flakes and high humidity are ideal conditions for these fungi to form.

Our tips

• Wet the cement joints well before cleaning with the shower spray. The grout is saturated with water and therefore absorbs fewer acids
.
• Do not leave the cleaning agent on for too long. It is better to apply the product directly to the cloth and wipe the surfaces by hand.
Scrape off the wall covering with a rubber scraper after showering to generally reduce the build-up of limescale on the tiles.
• Keep the silicone joints as dry as possible. Wipe with a cloth after showering.
