The Lattecaldo Restaurant is closely linked to its owners Claudia, Sebastiano, and Simone and was born out of love, friendship, and passion. A love of catering, the friendship that binds the owners and a passion for their work are the ingredients that gave rise to this business. A spontaneous, family-run business that was born and continues to grow thanks to the hard work and daily enthusiasm of Claudia and Simone.

ABOUT US

Claudia Gaffuri (Crimi), born in 1991, after a period of study, devoted herself to her great passion, catering, obtaining a diploma in management. Claudia is responsible for welcoming customers, serving at the bar and in the dining room, as well as managing the restaurant.

Simone Pigozzo, born in 1991, trained as a chef and then as a pastry chef/confectioner, working in various restaurants in Ticino and the rest of Switzerland. In the kitchen, he is responsible for selecting products, maintaining close contact with local producers, and preparing dishes. Simone also devotes a lot of time to pastry making, preparing cakes and various desserts for sale over the counter or by reservation.

Our Philosophy

Hospitality, from the Latin Hospes, is our daily mission. We welcome guests, whether occasional, passing through, or regular, making them feel at home thanks to a warm, familiar, and well-kept environment. But above all, thanks to simple, traditional Ticino dishes, revisited without excess and prepared with homemade and local products. The search for quality ingredients is also facilitated by Claudia and Simone's direct approach with the various producers in the area. Professionalism in satisfying customer requests, even for special events, with menus agreed directly with the kitchen.

Where we are

The Lattecaldo Restaurant occupies the building that formerly housed the Grotto Lattecaldo, located in Morbio Superiore in the village of the same name at the entrance to the Muggio Valley. Close to an important forest area, consisting mainly of chestnut woods, the Lattecaldo Restaurant offers easy access to the trails leading to Monte Generoso and Monte Bisbino. The restaurant consists of a bar area with a fireplace at the entrance, a small room for bar customers, and two large rooms that can accommodate up to 60 people. Ideal for hosting special events, the premises are distinguished by their refined and understated décor. Outside, there is a large terrace that can accommodate up to 80 people. From here, you can enjoy the summer coolness of the Muggio Valley in the shade of the trees that make up the garden.

Cuisine

The Lattecaldo Restaurant stands out for its simple cuisine, with traditional dishes, revisited without excess and prepared with products chosen in the area directly from the producer. The evening menu, which follows the seasonality of the products, and the midday menu are accompanied by a fixed menu with typical dishes of the Ticino tradition. The well-stocked wine cellar offers a variety of wines from the region. But that's not all. At Ristorante Lattecaldo, you can enjoy homemade desserts every day.

The evening menu

The evening menu at Ristorante Lattecaldo is based on seasonal produce and stands out for its simplicity, which nevertheless reflects the care with which the dishes are prepared. From selecting the produce and ingredients to the actual preparation and service. The menu also offers a wide selection of desserts made in-house every day.

The midday menu

At lunchtime, Lattecaldo Restaurant offers a reasonably priced menu consisting of a first course or appetizer and a dessert or second course, accompanied by a coffee. Water is always included in the price.

The fixed menu

The evening menu and the lunch menu are always accompanied by a fixed menu consisting of traditional Ticino dishes. From cold cuts to cheeses, you can enjoy niche products from the region. Thanks to our wine cellar, we can offer homemade aged cheeses on the fixed menu.

The wine list

The Lattecaldo Restaurant, located in the old part of the building, has a cellar suitable for storing wine and aging cheese. The labels on the menu favor wines from the region. In fact, the cellar contains a selection of Merlot wines. But that's not all. Italian and French wines are also available on a rotating basis.

Pastries

The Lattecaldo Restaurant is not just about cuisine. Simone's training as a pastry chef and confectioner allows him to offer a wide selection of desserts prepared in-house daily and intended for both table service and takeaway. Cakes and desserts for special events can also be prepared to order.

Water

Even water is valued at Lattecaldo Restaurant. The still and sparkling water that accompanies the various menus is purified in-house directly from the water supply. This solution allows us to serve water coming directly from the springs located in the Crotta Valley at the foot of Monte Generoso.
